Endhiran fever starts
No Rajinikanth-starrer is complete without a number delivered by the evergreen S P Balasubramaniam!
Rahman seems to have got this basic ‘fact’ right in Endhiran, as The Mozart of Madras has used the singer, who has sung several famous songs in Tamil, for the Puthiya Manidha... song in the upcoming Rajinikanth extravaganza. And, what’s more, accompanying SPB is none other than Rahman and his daughter Khatija!
Fans would vividly remember the Baba title track (Dipu Dipu...) which was sung by Shankar Mahadevan. Rahman, some still state, missed a trick by not using SPB for that sacred ‘Rajini- intro’ special, though he did use SP Balasubramaniam for another track in the same film.
Will Puthiya Manidha... be the sacred intro song for the Superstar in Endhiran? If it is indeed, then one can be sure that Rajini-SPB fans will have a lot to cheer about. With an impressive team— Rajinikanth and Aishwarya in the lead, Shankar wielding the megaphone and Rahman scoring the music— this film is something to watch out for.

Rahman is a Yogi:Rajinkanth, Endhiran Music Release
The Music Launch of Endhiran, a movie touted to be one of the most ambitious Indian films yet, took place at Kuala Lumpar. The venue was jam-packed, and understandingly so! The presence of Super Star Rajinikanth, double-Oscar winner A.R. Rahman, Former Miss World Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and popular filmmaker Shankar, under one roof, is a once in a life-time occurrence. The Endhiran music CD was released by the movie's producer Kalanidhi Maran, M.D. of Sun Pictures. Everyone was given an opportunity to share with the eager and enthused audience their experience making the film. But the speech that was most longed for came last!
When Rajinikanth ascended the stage, the auditorium exploded in applause and one could almost touch the anticipation and excitement that spread through the hall. “When I was going to sign on Sivaji, I asked Kamal (Haasan) what kind of a maker Shankar was. He told me, he is a very intelligent man, but a very demanding man as well. And now, before Sun Pictures came on board, I told Mr. Kalanidhi Maran that Shankar is a like a wild, race horse – he wild surely get to the destination, but we must hang-on tight, to keep up with him,” Rajni said of Shankar. Adding that the director was a true visionary and would won day direct a fabulous Hollywood movie.
Talking about A.R. Rahman, he said, “Spiritual books tell us that there are three important aspects that differentiate a normal man and a yogi. A true yogi has no ego. He is someone who follows the path of love. And above all he surrenders himself unto God, by putting Him before all else – success, power, money. Considering these things, ARR is a yogi. He has all these three qualities that spiritual gurus say make a yogi. He's the best proof that you don't have to go to the Himalayas to find yogis!”
Rajni went on to say that Aishwarya Rai is no ordinary girl. She combines beauty and brains. “She is the most beautiful Miss World of our times. Even in a scene in the movie where she wore hardly any make-up, she looked stunning! She's the kind of woman, who is charming in every way,” he added.
Coming to the unconditional affection his fans have for him, Rajni was humble in saying they treat him like a baby. “Parents dress up their child in fancy clothes, and rejoice when they see that child sing and dance. Similarly, you all dress me up in different get-ups, make me look younger, ask me to dance and sing, and praise and applaud me when I do that. It's all your doing. I do nothing,” he quipped. Wrapping up him speech, like the true philosopher and spiritualist he is, the star insisted the happiness and success are not permanent. “Sometimes you will have to come down before you achieve something that will take you to the top. If you succeed once and think, that you're successful, you will be in for a rude shock. Ups and downs in life, are inevitable. Learn to accept both and move,” he said and returned to his seat, amidst resounding applause.

Aishwarya, Rajnikanth launch Endhiran music
Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Tamil superstar Rajnikanth today launched the music of their forthcoming film Endhiran here amid a grand musical extravaganza.
The 36-year-old actress looked ravishing in a maroon churidar-kameez at the event which was also attended by the film's director Shankar and composer A R Rahman. The show had a high tech tone with digital musicand men dressed as robots on the stage.
Endhiran (Robot) is a mega budget Tamil film, touted to be one of the most expensive ones ever made and is loaded with special effects.
The music launch, held at the sprawling Putrajaya convention centre outside Kuala Lumpur, was also attended by lyricist Vairamuthu, Sun TV chief Kalanidhi Maran, Tamil stars Jeyam Ravi, Radha Ravi and Ramya Krishnan.
Radha Ravi suggested that Aishwarya should become a member of the South Indian Artiste's Association. Earlier this morning, Aishwarya landed at the international airport and reportedly kicked up a fuss when she could not find her white bag, believed to be containing her make-up kit.
She refused to leave the VIP lounge until the bag was delivered to her two hours later. The bag was actually with one of her minders, reported Star newspaper online. Aishwarya was also not very happy with the star-struck airport ground staff who couldn't stop clicking away.
"How many photos of me do they want to take?" she was overheard asking one of her minders.

Shankar's Endhiran to become a reality soon
Well, looks like Shankar’s dream of 10 years is going to become a reality soon. Wondering what we are talking about? Well, apparently, Endhiran, which has Rajinikanth and Aishwarya Rai in the lead, was at the back of Shankar’s mind for almost 10 years.
We also hear that he was planning to make the movie with Kamal Haasan and Preity Zinta at that time. A source tells us Shankar had conceptualised the story of Endhiran way back in 2000 and kept postponing the making of the film. “Though Shankar had written the script and story for Endhiran 10 years ago, he wasn’t sure if he could pull off such a huge film at that time.
And after completing Sivaji, he thought it was time to start work on his dream project. Surprisingly, he found the script still fresh and thought the audience would be able to relate to it even if it is released now. The film has a scientific background and since movies like Terminator and Avatar ran successfully even in villages, Shankar was sure they would accept his Endhiran as well,” adds the source.
Well, with the kind of attention even the audio launch function of Endhiran (on July 31 in Kuala Lumpur) is garnering, we are sure the film will be a success story too!

Endhiran shoot finished!
The leading director wrote in his blog, “It was a very, very happy moment for everyone. I think this is the first film where I am doing the pumpkin-breaking pooja (poosanika udaikiradhu) with the lead stars (Rajinikanth and Aishwarya Rai) present on the occasion.” Later, media baron and producer Kalanithi Maran celebrated the occasion by throwing a big party for the entire unit.
The very next day, further good news awaited the director as composer A R Rahman handed him the master music copy of the film. A delighted Shankar wrote, “Rahman gave the Tamil songs final mix master to us. It is amazing, rocking and sounding as big and grand as the budget of the movie. The first song clearly indicates that our A R Rahman is an Oscar winner. I hope that our combination lives up to expectations once again.” Shankar has also made it clear that the audio of the film will be released by the end of this month.
Meanwhile, there is a fierce bidding war going on between a Mumbai-based audio major and a Chennai-based company for the audio rights of the film. The grapevine has it that the audio of Endhiran has been snapped up for a record price, somewhere in the Rs 7 to Rs 8 crore range. This is the highest ever paid for an audio in south Indian film history, a price almost on par with recent Bollywood music acquisitions.
A music industry tracker said, “The price that the market is talking about is a new benchmark in south Indian films’ audio market. The music of Sivaji, the previous Rajinikanth-Shankar-Rahman combo film, was marketed by the producers themselves and so, we do not have an exact rate for it. Raavanan was purchased for around Rs 2 crore. It’s phenomenal that the rights of Endhiran went for more than three times that price.”

Endhiran shoot over: Shankar
The last song was picturised on Aishwarya Rai and superstar Rajinikanth by choreographer Remo.
Writing in his blog Shankar says- “It was a very, very happy moment for everyone. I think this is the first film where I am doing the pumpkin breaking pooja ( Poosanika Udaikiradhu) with the lead stars Rajnikanth & Aishwarya Rai.”
Later, Sun TV big boss Kalanithi Maran threw a big party for the entire Endhiran unit at his house. Shankar writes: “Our producer Mr. Kalanithi Maran gave a big party on July 9th for the crew. In the presence of our honorable Central minister Mr. Dayanidhi Maran, I attended the party along with Rajni sir, DOP Rathnavelu, Resul Pookutty, Editor Antony & my crew. We shared all the interesting stories related to the making of the film with Mr. Maran. It was a memorable day for all of us”.
More good news came Shankar’s way when AR Rahman handed him over the master CD of the film. A delighted Shankar says: “Good news… Yesterday morning Rahman gave the Tamil songs final mix master to us… it is amazing…rocking, sounding as big & grand as the budget of the movie. The first song clearly indicates that our AR Rahman is an Oscar winner. I hope that once again our combination lives up to the expectation levels. And we are planning to release the audio in the month end”.

August release for Rajini's Endhiran?
As tweeted by ace Bollywood costume stylist Manish Malhotra (who has designed the exclusive clothes for the lead pair) the last song, which was picturised on Rajini and Aishwarya at Sun Studios near ECR, was completed on July 7. Manish reportedly tweeted, “On my way to Chennai again, last costume change for Rajni sir and Ash song shooting gets over on the 7th.”
Shankar has already given the edited version of the film to A.R. Rahman and Resul Pookutty, who are working hard in an all-out effort to complete it. Every attempt is being made to have the highly-anticipated audio release function by the third week of July — it’s scheduled to be held in Malaysia.
Biggies like Kamal’s Manmadha Ambu, Vijay’s Kaaval Kadhal (Kaavalkaran renamed) are slotted for a Diwali release, while there are hardly any big releases in August or September.
This means Endhiran will get a clear 50-day run without any competition. Moreover, with World Cup Cricket scheduled in January and state elections probably being advanced, it is unlikely that any big film will be slotted for a Pongal release.

Ash may be late!
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s much-awaited Endhiran (Tamil) and The Robot (Hindi) are generating hype and excitement.
And, a lot of this is to do with the fact that Ash is teaming up with namma superstar Rajinikanth for the first time. Strong rumours say that steel tycoon Lakshmi Mittal is picking up a stake in the overseas rights of the film. But distributors are not sure when the film is going to hit the screens. Earlier, it was meant to be a Diwali release. However, now it is being said that since Oscar-winner AR Rahman is yet to finish work on the background score, the film could be delayed further.
But come what may, the film is going to be nothing short of a visual treat for the audience, with Rajinikanth and Aishwarya in action, Shankar handling the megaphone and AR Rahman scoring the music.

Endhiran on September 10?
Reportedly the director is currently busy with the post production works. Endhiran (also spelt as Enthiran) brings back the famous duo of Superstar Rajinikanth and director Shankar after their blockbuster Sivaji the boss. Endhiran is also special for its choreography by Prabhu Deva. Lyrics by Vairamuthu, art direction by Sabu Cyril and cinematography by Ratnavelu comprise a regular Shankar team. The director has also roped in Oscar winner Resul Pookutty for sound effects; it is also said that a unique sound effect has been created for the film.
The story of Endhiran is set in the future, when new and bizarre fashion fads would come into existence. That is the reason Rajinikanth walks the sets of Endhiran in costumes that are quite hard to initially appreciate, but look absolutely great on him. Envisaging future fashion fads, costume designer Manish Malhotra and Aalim have worked extensively on Rajinikanth’s look in Endhiran.

Endhiran unit waiting for Ash!
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has been critically appreciated for her roles in Mani Ratnam’s Raavan and Raavanan.
The audience feedback in Chennai on her performance is that she is mesmerising and has come out with an award-winning performance. According to many, her on-screen chemistry with Vikram in the Tamil version crackled. Now that the hype and hoopla surrounding the release of Raavan is over, everybody is eagerly looking forward to her next release in Tamil, Endhiran (Robot), with Superstar Rajinikanth.
Director Shankar wrote in his blog, “Well... except one song, the shooting of the whole film (Endhiran) is complete. The full edited film has been given to A R Rahman for background score and Resul Pookutty for the sound effects. Just waiting to shoot the last song, the computer graphics work of the climax and some important scenes to be completed.”
Endhiran’s last song is going to be a shot in a set and will feature the lead pair Rajinikanth and Aishwarya Rai. Now, Shankar and the entire unit of the film are waiting for Aishwarya’s dates to complete the shoot. Ash was busy for the last two months, completing Raavan and its promotional events. As per sources, she has given dates towards the end of the month to shoot the song at a studio set in Chennai.
A source close to the Endhiran unit reveals that the song will be shot on a beautiful set erected at the production house’s state-of-the-art studio on OMR. It will be the first song to be shot in this studio. Art director Sabu Cyril has created a gigantic futuristic city set for the song and the buzz is that it will be the most expensive set created for a Tamil song. Also, this particular song, tuned by A R Rahman, is touted to be the chartbuster in the film.
Meanwhile, plans are afoot for a big audio launch of Endhiran in July in Malaysia, the biggest overseas market for Tamil films. If Ash confirms her dates and shoots in Chennai by this month, the film will be complete and the producers can firm up a release date sometime in August end or early September. As of now, the ball is clearly in Ash’s court.
